Adding a Directory to your site

Are you thinking about adding a Directory to your Website?

Here is some of the reasons why you should add a Directory to your website:

By adding a directory to your website it gives viewers and users of your website the ability to add their listing to your directory giving them free advertising and possibly more traffic back to their website to sell the products and services they offer.

It also gives viewers of your website a reason to come back as the directory grows with information and listings they may be interested in.

Search Engines love content, especially new content added to your site on a regular basis. If you own a website and don't continually add new pages of content, the search engines will eventually "crawl" your site less often and you will never get or maintain a good position in that search engine. It is very competative when trying to get search engine traffic, as they say "content is king" the more content on your site and the more often it changes or grows the better chance you have of earning a better spot in the search engines.

Directories can earn you money, as your Directory grows in size and popularity and if you choose to charge for listings you have a better chance of earning money through your website.

Many of my websites have directories built in for the very reasons I have listed above.

As an example there is a Directory on my BCFarms site at: http://www.bcfarms.com/

BCFarms.com has a Directory built in for people in British Columbia looking to sell or promote their goods and services. In the BCFarms Directory http://www.bcfarms.com/mtree/ it promotes everything from Real Estate, Bed & Breakfasts, Organic Produce, Livestock, Farmers Markets, Garden centres, Wineries and Vineyards to Top Tourist Spots in B.C.. I operate many websites and don't get a chance to add new content very often so the Directory is a great way to add new content for the site and the search engines without doing any work other than checking the new listings every few days and approving them. It's also a great service for the community and it's Free.

I have another Directory that helps people get traffic to their websites called Lootz.com at: http://www.lootz.com/  This site is a pay site that generates income through listings, I charge $9.95 for a listing in the Directory but it lasts forever. This is another example of what you can do with Directories and how you can generate income from a Directory.

Now when it come to Directory components I always use Mosets Tree at http://www.mosets.com/tree/ . Before I discovered Mosets Tree I started out using Phil Taylors "MosDirectory" but soon discovered (In my opinion) it's not worth paying for. In fact it wouldn't be worth using if it was free.

Mosets Tree is $119.00 or less depending how many you but but is well worth the price, The support is the best in the industry and the Directory component is fantastic. There are some other free directory components available and I always like to use free components when available, but the Directory component from Mosets is well worth the money believe me, I don't make any money promoting it!

It is simple to use, very simple. It allows you to create as many categories as you want and it's fast. It also works with Emir Sakic's SEF Advanced which (in my opinion) its the best Search Engine Friendly component available for Joomla and will give your Joomla site a huge advantage in the Search Engines, it's not free but again...it's well worth the price. (I don't get paid to promote SEF Advanced either but I know it will help your site immensely)

You can "Take a Tour" of Mosets Tree at the Mosets Home page...here's the link to the Tour:

By the Way...Emir Sakic was one of the Core developers of Mambo which many of you know is where Joomla came from..In my opinion, his product is well worth the small fee for it and works well with Mosets Tree Directory Component.
